Bhubaneswar: In a statewide push towards sustainable energy, Tata Power’s Odisha distribution discoms — TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL), TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), and TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL) — have intensified grassroots outreach under the ongoing Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.
Through specialized ‘Seva Setu Camps’, the discoms are driving rapid adoption of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana and Utility-Led Aggregation (ULA) models across their operational circles. Designed as single-window facilitation hubs, these camps bring together utility officials, district authorities, financial institutions, empanelled solar vendors, and representatives from REC Limited to offer end-to-end assistance on government subsidies, loan options, eligibility criteria, and on-the-spot registrations.
In Southern Odisha, TPSODL spearheaded a Mega Seva Setu Camp at Chhatrapur in Ganjam district, resulting in 280 consumer registrations in a single day. The event was attended by Chhatrapur MLA Krushna Chandra Nayak, Ganjam Collector Keerthi Vasan V, Chief Project Manager of REC A Shyamprashad Rao, alongside virtual participation from MNRE Scientist-C Hiren Chandra Borah and Odisha Energy Department Special Secretary Saidutta Biplab Pradhan.
TPSODL highlighted that Ganjam leads the state with 23,442 rooftop solar installations, driven by extensive awareness programs such as Solar Raths, Nukkad Nataks, and Gram Sabha engagements across its eight-district territory.
Across Central Odisha, TPCODL is executing its month-long campaign (September 17 to October 17) across nine operational districts. A key camp in Tangi-Choudwar block within the Kataka district saw participation from Rajya Sabha MP Debashish Samantaray, political-turned-actor Arindam Roy, BDO N N Rajalaxmi Ojha, alongside REC and utility leadership. Building on more than 77,000 existing rooftop solar installations in its license area, TPCODL CEO Shri Gajanan S Kale emphasised that bringing application support directly to communities is crucial to accelerating the state’s clean energy transition.
Meanwhile, TPNODL mobilised solar and customer service teams across Baleshwar, Baliapal, Thakurmunda (Mayurbhanj), and Tihidi (Bhadrak) blocks, driving over 400 single-day registrations across five northern districts. The Baleshwar camp during Seva Sankalp Yatra was attended by Baleshwar MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi, Baleshwar Sadar MLA Manas Kumar Dutta, Nilagiri MLASantosh Khatua, and senior TPNODL officials. At Baliapal, Basta MLA Subhasini Jena and BDO Radharanjan Das joined consumer interactions. TPNODL CEO Dushyant Kumar Tyagi affirmed the discom’s commitment to simplifying technical and financial guidance for local households, encouraging consumers to leverage dedicated helplines (1800 3456 718 / 1912) and local offices for seamless adoption.
