Bhubaneswar: A 30-year-old soldier from Odisha’s Rayagada district, V Teja, was martyred while on duty in Nagaland on Monday, officials said.
Teja, who was serving as a rifleman with the Assam Rifles, was reportedly hit by a bullet and rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed profound grief over the death of the soldier. His supreme sacrifice and dedication in the service of the motherland will forever remain etched in eternal memory, CM Majhi said in a post on X.

ଏହି ଦୁଃଖଦ ସମୟରେ ଶୋକସନ୍ତପ୍ତ ପରିବାରବର୍ଗଙ୍କୁ ମୋର ଗଭୀର ସମବେଦନା ଜଣାଇବା ସହ ଅମର ଆତ୍ମାର ସଦ୍ଗତି ପାଇଁ ମହାପ୍ରଭୁ ଶ୍ରୀଜଗନ୍ନାଥଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା କରୁଛି। ଓଁ ଶାନ୍ତି🙏

The news of his death left his family, friends and residents of Rayagada shocked, as preparations were underway for his marriage in December.
According to reports, Teja was scheduled to marry on December 10 and had been granted 50 days of leave. He was expected to be in Rayagada during Diwali.
Teja, who would have turned 31 on October 7, had joined the Indian Army in 2022, according to his family.
Teja’s mortal remains are slated to be brought to Visakhapatnam by a special helicopter via Hyderabad. From Visakhapatnam, the body will be transported to Rayagada by a special ambulance later on Tuesday.
