Odisha Student’s Death In Visakhapatnam: Bamra Locals Observe Bandh

Bamra: Locals residents of Bamra block in Sambalpur district observed a 12-hour bandh demanding CBI inquiry into the death of Shreyas Kesharwani, who allegedly died due to ragging at a hostel in Visakhapatnam.

Vehicular movement was largely affected in the locality as the agitators under the banner of Bamra Action Committee staged blockades at several major roads and junctions.
Most of the shops, markets and other business establishments remained closed during the strike.
“The plus-two student was ragged by some students of the Visakhapatnam-based educational institution on December 26. He sustained critical injuries in the incident. Though Shreyas was brought back to Rourkela and admitted to the IGH, he was later shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar after his condition deteriorated. However, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital. We demand immediate arrest of those responsible for the incident and action against the authorities of the educational institution who did not respond to the repeated complaints made by the ragging victim”, an agitator said.
