Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm activity together with lightning and gusty surface winds may continue in Odisha till May 20, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday.
At the same time, hot and humid conditions are also likely to prevail in some parts of the coastal belt in the state, including Puri, Khurda, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur. Cuttack, Nayagarh, and Kendrapada on May 17 and 18.
Though the day temperature is unlikely to witness any large change during the next 6 to 7 days, the mercury may hover around 40°C in several parts of the state, particularly the districts in the western region.
The weather agency has issued an orange warning of thunderstorm, lightning, gusty surface wind and rain in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Nabarangapur, Nuapada, Keonjhar, Balasore, and Bhadrak districts up to the morning of Sunday.
