Bhubaneswar: In an exciting development for fitness enthusiasts and athletes, the Balangir Marathon Association (BMA) has announced the organisation of a National-Level Half Marathon to be held in Odisha’s Balangir on February 1, 2026.
The announcement was made on Saturday at a grand inaugural ceremony, attended by several dignitaries and key stakeholders, including Assistant Collector Ram Narayan Mishra; SDPO Saroj Upadhyaya; Treasury officer Bhimsen Bag; District Football Coach Parasara Bag; Lower Sukte Dam Accounts Officer Jagatpal Seth; ICICI Bank Balangir Branch Manager Ranjit Mishra.
Also present were members of the Balangir Marathon Association, including president Prasanta Nayak, secretary Sanjay Pradhan, Sasikanta Rout, Ranjan Naik, Suraj Patel, Lilu Pradhan, Rabindra Sahu, Somnath Tripathy, Jitendra Rout, Manoj Pradhan, Sujit Sagar, and Mukhiram Kampa.
The event will feature multiple categories, including the Half Marathon 21 kms, 10 kms Run, and a 5 kms Run, providing opportunities for participants of all fitness levels to join the challenge. The marathon will showcase the stunning landscapes of Balangir and the rich cultural heritage of the region, making it a unique experience for runners and spectators alike.
The Balangir Marathon 2026 is expected to draw participants from all over the country, with cash prizes and medals awarded to top finishers in each category. Registration for the event will open soon, with early bird discounts available for those who register before.
