Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued heavy rainfall warning in the coastal districts of Odisha as a low-pressure area is set to form over the Bay of Bengal within 12 hours.

The IMD said in a mid-day bulletin that a cyclonic circulation, lying over central Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood, will turn into a low-pressure area over the same region within 12 hours. Under its influence, heavy rainfall will lash most parts of coastal districts, especially south coastal districts, with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places. Heavy rainfall will continue till the morning of October 23.

Apart from coastal districts, there will be light to moderate rainfall in remaining parts of the state during the period.
