Odisha To Receive Over 19 Lakh Doses Of COVID Vaccines By August 2

Bhubaneswar: The inoculation drive in Odisha is likely to gain momentum in August with two consignments of more than 19 lakh doses of vaccines due to arrive in the state between July 31 and August 2.

This was revealed during the virtual meeting of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday when Additional Chief Secretary Pradipta Mohapatra apprised the Ministry of the acute shortage of vaccines in Odisha.

The state government had flagged vaccine shortage after the drive was deadly hit in most of the districts in Odisha with no sessions being held in 24 districts on Monday and 15 districts the following day.

According to the schedule fixed by the Ministry, Odisha will receive 15,92,770 doses of Covishield vaccines by July 31 and 3,07,350 doses of Covaxin vaccines by August 2.

According to the Health and Family Welfare Department, a total of 1,36,07,224 people in Odisha have been vaccinated till July 14.

On Thursday, people are being vaccinated at 1077 session sites in 27 districts with the available stock of 2,62,060 doses of Covishield and 2,32,530 doses of Covaxin. No sessions have been planned for Balasore, Dhenkanal and Nabarangpur districts.
