Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Thursday apprehended Praveen Hota, Assistant Engineer, Electrical, TPSODL, Boriguma, in Odisha’s Koraput district while allegedly accepting Rs 10,000 bribe.
According to Vigilance sources, he had demanded illegal gratification from a helper engaged on an outsourcing basis at Boriguma Electrical Section. He had threatened to discontinue his contractual engagement.
The entire bribe money was recovered from him.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on properties of Hota at 4 places in Koraput and Ganjam districts.
He was already under the scanner for alleged tampering of meters, exchange transformers by showing them as damaged, providing illegal connections to small and medium commercial consumers.
Further investigation is underway.
