Odisha Transport Offices To Stay Open On Govt Holidays
Bhubaneswar: The state government on Tuesday directed the Commerce and Transport department to keep its offices open on all government holidays.
The directive came after the Chief Minister ordered a three-month relaxation on the collection of penalty from people without relevant documents of their vehicles.
Commerce and Transport Minister Padmanabha Behera said he has asked the department to keep all transport offices open on government holidays to enable the people to get their papers ready within three months.
“The Regional Transport Officers (RTOs) have been asked to set up camps at various locations to facilitate the people to get their documents like driving license, insurance papers, fitness certificate and pollution certificate in time,” he added.
The minister also clarified that there will be no refund of the penalties collected from vehicle owners so far.
