Sambalpur: Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday arrested Padmalochan Nayak, Executive Engineer of CADA, Sambalpur Division, for possessing huge assets, including multi-storey buildings, 18 prime plots of land, and a fleet of vehicles, which were disproportionate to his known sources of income.
According to Vigilance officials, searches conducted at properties linked to Nayak revealed assets that he could not satisfactorily account for.
The assets detected include three buildings, among them a multi-storeyed building measuring about 18,840 square feet at Kataka, 18 valuable plots, cash worth Rs 3.45 lakh, three four-wheelers, two JCB machines, a tractor and a trailer, besides other assets.
Following the searches and verification of the assets, Odisha Vigilance registered a case against Nayak under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018.
Vigilance said Nayak has been placed under arrest and is being forwarded to the court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur.
Further investigation into the case is underway to ascertain the full extent of the assets and their sources.
