Odisha Vigilance Arrests Junior Engineer With Massive Assets Including 5 Buildings, 23 Plots

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Thursday arrested Prasanna Kumar Pani, a junior engineer (JE) of Samagra Sikhya Abhijan (SSA) in Angul, following detection of massive assets running into crores of rupees.

The engineer was found in possession of disproportionate assets, including five buildings (three multi-storey buildings and one flat in Bhubaneswar), 26 plots, deposits over 64.18 lakh, gold jewellery, weighing 832 grams, worth Rs 32 lakh, Rs.3.33 lakh in cash, during raids conducted by Vigilance officials at nine different places in Bhubaneswar, Khurda, Angul and Puri the previous day.

Assets unearthed in the name of Pani and his family members:

1) Triple-storey building at plot no. 367, Trilochan Vihar, Ebaranga, Sundarpada, Bhubaneswar.

2) Triple-storey building at plot no. 366, Trilochan Vihar, Ebaranga, Sundarpada, Bhubaneswar.

3) Triple-storey building worth Rs 75 lakh near Friends Club, Sundarpada, Bhubaneswar.

4) One flat at High Tech Plaza, Sundarpada, Bhubaneswar.

5) Triple-storey building located at Amlapada, Nimapada, Puri.

6) 26 plots in prime areas of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Pipili, Nimapada, Jankia and Jatni. The Registered Sale Deed (RSD) value comes to Rs 89.02 lakh. However, the actual value is likely to be much higher.

The search teams also found a sale agreement and advance of Rs 3.6 lakh towards the purchase of a plot at Nimapara in Puri.

7) Payment of Rs 42.84 lakh to different developers/promoters to purchase land and apartments

7) Rs 3.33 lakh in cash

8) Bank and insurance deposits of over 64.18 lakh.

9) A four-wheeler and 3 two-wheelers.
