Cuttack: Vigilance officials on Friday arrested a Panchayat Executive Officer posted in Dhenkanal district while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 8,000.
Sashirekha Singh is the Panchayat Executive Officer of Asarada gram panchayat in Dhenkanal district. She was allegedly accepting the bribe from a person in order to release money for work done under MGNREGS.
The Vigilance had laid a trap following a complaint. After her arrest, Vigilance teams launched simultaneous searches on the rented house of Singh at Khajuriakata in Dhenkanal and office room at Asarada. She will be forwarded to court.
