Bhubaneswar: A day after arresting a junior engineer (JE) from Tata Power Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000, Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday unearthed huge assets amassed by him.
The accused, identified as Pradesh Prasad Nayak, junior engineer at TPSODL in Malkangiri district, was arrested by Odisha Vigilance for taking Rs 20,000 bribe from a bricks factory owner in lieu of providing electricity connection to his factory.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches were conducted at locations connected to Nayak from DA angle. During searches, the assets unearthed include;
1.One double storeyed building with area approx 2000 sq ft at Berhampur Town.
2.Five high value plots in and around BBSR and Berhampur.
3.Gold approx 150 gms.
4.1 four-wheeler (Maruti Grand Vitara) and 2 two-wheelers.
Vigilance said Nayak had entered government service as Technician Apprentice on 8.9.2004 with initial monthly salary of Rs 3,000/- under SOUTHCO, Berhampur. He served in the above rank at Bhanjanagar, Buguda and Aska. In the year 2021, Nayak was promoted to the rank of JE and posted at TPSODL, Malkangiri. Since then, he has been continuing as such till date at Malkangiri.
He has been arrested and is being forwarded to the Court. Separate enquiry on DA angle is continuing.
