Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate highway, railway and projects during his one-day visit to Odisha on February 3.

PM Modi, who is scheduled to visit Sambalpur to inaugurate the permanent campus of Indian Institute of Management-Sambalpur (IIM-S) at Basantpur on Saturday, will also dedicate three transformative highway projects built at a cost
Rs 2045 crore, a NHAI release said on Thursday.

The projects are four-laning of Biramitrapur to Brahmani bypass end section of NH-143, covering 24.100 km at a cost of Rs. 679 crore; four-laning of Brahmani bypass end to Rajamunda Section of NH-143, spanning 47 km, with an investment of Rs 538 crore in Sundargarh district and four-laning of Rimuli to Koida Section of NH-520, stretching across 41.710 km, developed at a cost of Rs 828 crore, in Keonjhar district

The release further said that the highway sections of NH-143 from Biramitrapur to Brahmani bypass and Brahmani bypass end to Rajamunda includes a significant 4-lane flyover at Vedvyas and a long-awaited 473-m-long 6-lane major bridge over River Brahmani. The project provides enhanced connectivity to Rourkela, the industrial hub of the region, and Jharkhand. It will contribute to reduced travel time, easing the movement of goods and people between the two states.

Additionally, it will facilitate smoother traffic flow to the district headquarters and Jharsuguda Airport through the Biju Expressway (SH-10), it added.

The Rimuli to Koida section of NH-520 is the lifeline, connecting major iron mining areas operated by large industrial entities such as TATA Group, JSW, JSPL, Arcelor Mittal, Rungta Mines and SAIL mines. The highway, connecting these mines with Rourkela, will not only enhance the efficiency of transporting minerals but also strengthen the bond between the mining towns and the industrial hub, fostering collaboration and growth, it added.

During this visit, the PM will also inaugurate NTPC Darlipali Super Thermal Power Station (2×800 MW), NSPCL Rourkela PP Expansion Project (1×250 MW) and lay the foundation stone of NTPC Talcher Thermal Power Project, Stage-lII (2×660 MW), with a total investment of Rs 28.978 crore.

He may also inaugurate the newly-constructed Sonepur station and flag off a train on the Balangir-Sonepur section (47 km) of Khurda Road-Balangir new line (301 km) project.
