Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Police have suspended inspector Susmita Magar for gross misconduct and dereliction of duty amid allegations of her links with ganja (cannabis) smugglers.
Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Y B Khurania issued the suspension order on Monday, placing Magar under immediate suspension. The order states that disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against her. During the suspension period, she has been directed to report to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Southern Range, Berhampur.
Magar, who previously served as inspector-in-charge (IIC) of the Manamunda police station in Boudh district, came under scrutiny following complaints about her alleged nexus with drug traffickers. She was subsequently transferred from the field post to the Boudh district police headquarters.
The Boudh Superintendent of Police had earlier issued a show-cause notice to Magar over the serious allegations.
