Odisha’s Chittaranjan Tripathy Appointed Director Of National School Of Drama

New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Actor-director Chittaranjan Tripathy, who hails from Odisha, was on Thursday appointed as the director of National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi.

A native of Chandbali in Bhadrak district, he will be the first Odia to hold this position.

The alumnus of NSD has acted in several Bollywood films, including the prominent character of Trivedi in popular Netflix web series ‘Sacred Games’ and a police inspector in ‘Chhappak’ based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. He also played a negative character in ALT Balaji and ZEE5 web-series M.O.M Mission Over Mars. He was last seen in Abhishek Bachchan-starrer ‘Dasvi’ in which played an IAS officer and Ganga Ram’s secretary.

Tripathi has also directed Odia movies like ‘Dhauli Express’, which received three Odisha State Film Awards, and ‘Mukhyamantri’. In 2017, he bagged the ‘best comedy artiste’ award for ‘Love U Jessica’.

He did a diploma in acting from NSD in 1996 and is the batchmate of Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
