Bhubaneswar: Odisha COVID-19 tally crossed 5000-mark on Sunday with a highest single-day spike of 304 cases in the last 24 hours.
The total mounted to 5160 after 272 cases were detected in various quarantine centres and another 32 during contact tracing.
According to I &PR tweet, Gajapati reported the highest of 47 new cases, followed by Ganjam (40), Jagatsinghpur (29), Jharsuguda (25), Jajpur (21), Balasore (17), Bargarh (14), Cuttack (13), Kandhamal (12), Bhadrak (11), Mayurbhanj (6), five each of Khurda and Kendrapada, Sonepur (4), three each of Nayagarh and Puri, two each of Malkangiri and Sambalpur, one each of Sundargarh, Dhenkanal and Balangir.
Among them are 42 personnel, who had returned the state from Amphan duty in West Bengal.
With 14 deaths and 3534 recoveries, Odisha now has 1607 active cases.
