Bhubaneswar: The Bali Jatra in Odisha’s Cuttack city figured in the talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in New Delhi on Saturday.
Highlighting the cultural and historical ties between the two countries, Prime Minister Modi referred to the Ramayana, Mahabharata and Bali Jatra in Cuttack.
Stating that Indonesia was the chief guest on India’s first Republic Day, he said India valued the relationship with Indonesia that was reflected in its ‘Act-East’ policy.
While the bilateral trade had exceeded $30 billion last year, the Prime Minister said cooperation in areas such as Fintech, Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, and digital public infrastructure would give a further boost. He also mentioned collaborative efforts in maritime security, cyber security and counter-terrorism.
Several MoUs were exchanged during the meeting in health cooperation, digital infrastructure, and defence collaboration. The significant agreements included maritime safety and security, aimed at bolstering crime prevention, search and rescue, and capacity building.
