Odisha Tennis Player Helps The Needy In Bhubaneswar Slums Amid COVID-19 Lockdown

Bhubaneswar: Chinmay Pradhan, the first Odia ATP Tennis Professional, Director of Gurukul Resorts and founder of Chocolate Group, has adopted a unique initiative to reach out to people in distress due to COVID-19 lockdown.

With the support of Swabhiman (State Disability Information and Resource Centre), Pradhan’s Chocolate Group has gone on almost 20 distribution drives and reached out to more than 400 families (almost 1800 beneficiaries) in more than 26 slum settlements of Bhubaneswar and seven villages on the outskirts of the Odisha capital.

The organisation has distributed dry ration and sanitation kits including soap and masks to persons with disabilities as it is difficult for them to go to buy essentials.

“We have planned to start the fourth stage of distribution in the coming days to the ‘poorest of the poor. This time, we will distribute protein-based food. Our estimation procedure is underway,” said Pradhan.
