Odisha’s ‘Sadhaba Bohu’ Creates A Lasting Impression At Patna Fashion Week

Bhubaneswar/Patna: Odisha handloom on the ‘Sadhaba Bohu’ theme hogged the limelight at the Patna Fashion Week on Sunday.

Models walked down the ramp draped in the collection by designer Sabyasachi Sathpathy during the grand finale of the three-day event in the capital city of Bihar.

Sadhaba Bohus were wife of ancient mariners (Sabhaba) from the erstwhile Kalinga empire (now Odisha), who established trade links with Bali, Java and Sumatra.

“The collection rose from this thought. To lend the ‘Sadhaba’ look, male models were dressed in pure handwoven tribal Kotpad fabrics while the female models draped Kotpad Saura and Dongria tribal sarees in Odia style, the ‘Sadhaba Bohu’ way,” Sabyasachi explained.

Actress and model Arshi Khan was the showstopper. “It was one amazing experience to have her walk in the saree. She looked gorgeous,” Sabyasachi said about his co-contestant of last season’s Big Boss.

He even took to Instagram expressing his love for her and the fashion week.

Talking about the collection under his label ‘Keembdanti’, the designer said, “I wanted to create something comfortable that people could wear on a regular basis and yet have a culturally rich feel to it. This worked just fine and the response has been overwhelming. The audience at the show went crazy when the models started walking down the ramp,” said a gleeful Sabyasachi.

He is a popular lifestyle and fashion designer from the state, who became a household after featuring as a commoner contestant in Bigg Boss 11.
