Bhubaneswar: Odia film director Sweta Kumar Das received the National Award for his short film “The Healing Touch” in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Das received the award from President Droupadi Murmu at the 69th National Film Award function. The film was selected in Special Mention category of the Award for 2021.
Based on COVID pandemic, “The Healing Touch” depicts recovery of a male patient from the disease due to positive attitude and strong support from his wife. The highlight of the film is the telephonic talk between the couple after the doctors express their helplessness about the man’s recovery. The positive and encouraging words from the wife help the patient build a strong will to fight the disease to recover.
The film is produced by Neel Mohapatra under the banner of Social Image, while Sweta Das is its script writer and director. Das is presently working as joint commissioner in Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Actors Gargi Mohanty and Gajendra Padhi have played the lead roles in the film.
