Odisha’s Tribal Folk Dance Performance Enters India Book Of Records

Bargarh: A tribal folk programme titled ‘Dangar Upre Karamsani’ that saw performance by 30,00 artistes has found a place in the ‘India Book of Records’.

It created a record for having maximum number of artistes perform on Karamsani festival.

‘Dangar Upre Karamsani’ was organised by Sambalpuri Folk Academy at Mahajan Dunguri under Gaisilat block in Bargarh district on January 5. Guru Rabi Ratan Sahoo was in charge of the splendid performance.

Following verification by the Editorial Board of India Book of Records, the programme entered the records books. The artistes won accolades for playing folk music and dancing on it for half an hour during the festival.

Karamsani is a tribal festival in which the artistes perform to honour the deity Karamsani. This festival is a part of Sambalpuri folk tradition.
