New Delhi: Medical aspirants, hailing from economically weaker section of society in Odisha, have been provided with smartphones to enable them to attend the online classes and prepare for the NEET exams scheduled on July 26, 2020.

This is an initiative of academic Ajay Bahadur Singh of Odisha’s Zindagi Foundation, run by a non-governmental organization.

Around 19 boys and girls from remote areas of the state, who are preparing for the medical entrance exam under Zindagi Foundation, will be appearing for the NEET exam this year.

Chairman of Zindagi Foundation, Ajay Bahadur Singh told PTI, “On the insistence of the students, we let them go home to be with their family in this hour of crisis, but within days of the imposition of the lockdown, we made arrangements for running online classes so that their studies are not disturbed at the last hour of preparation for NEET exam.”

These aspiring candidates are children of vegetable sellers, fishermen and marginal farmers. The foundation helps them in achieving their goals. In 2018, 14 students from the foundation had cracked NEET and 12 of them got admission in the state government medical colleges.
