Bhubaneswar: To promote inclusivity and dignity, the Odisha Hydro Power Corporation Limited (OHPC) has signed an MoU with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) to distribute aids and assistive devices to around 400 persons with disabilities and senior citizens across Odisha.
The initiative, fully funded by OHPC and part of the corporation’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, is aimed at enhancing mobility, independence, and quality of life for beneficiaries.
Under the agreement, ALIMCO’s Bhubaneswar unit will handle the procurement and distribution of a variety of modern assistive tools tailored to individual needs. For persons with disabilities, these include tricycles, motorised tricycles, wheelchairs, joystick-controlled wheelchairs, rollators, walkers, cerebral palsy (CP) chairs, hearing aids, crutches, Braille canes, smart canes, smartphones adapted for the visually impaired, and activity of daily living (ADL) kits for leprosy-affected individuals. Senior citizens will receive items such as walking sticks, elbow and axilla crutches, walkers, wheelchairs (with or without commode facilities), commode chairs and stools, silicon foam cushions, knee braces, spinal and cervical supports, lumbar-sacral belts, rollators with brakes, seated walking sticks, foot care kits, and additional supports focused on comfort and safety.
The MoU was signed by Chief General Manager (HR), OHPC, Anima Tripathy and General Manager (Marketing), ALIMCO, Vivek Dwivedi, in the presence of OHPC Director (HR) Sandeep Patnaik, Director (Operation) Amiya Kumar Mohanty, Deputy General Manager (HR) Sri Manoj Kumar Mohanty and senior officials from ALIMCO, including Shailendra Kumar and Smruti Mallick.
Officials said the partnership underscores OHPC’s commitment to inclusive society. By providing accessible solutions, the corporation aims to empower individuals to lead lives of dignity and independence.
