Bhubaneswar: Oil marketing companies, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) on Monday announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs 5 lakh each, as a one-time special measure, in the case of the demise of LPG supply chain staffers like those at showrooms, godown keepers, mechanics and delivery boys due to the infection and impact of Covid-19.
LPG being an essential commodity has been exempted from the lockdown. The personnel are required to attend duty during this crisis period to maintain uninterrupted LPG cylinder supply across the country.
The initiative of the oil companies has been welcomed by the Union Petroleum and Natural Gas & Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
