Bhubaneswar: The state government has decided to grant autonomy to the Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers Federation, also known as OMFED, to determine the price of the milk sold under its brand name.
It is aimed at enabling the brand OMFED to compete in the market flooded with private companies.
Considering the competitive price offered by companies like Milk Mantra, Pragati Milk Products Pvt Ltd, Amrutha Foods & Beverages Ltd, Mangatram Saralia Foods (P) Ltd and Prithwiraj Dairy Products Pvt Ltd are offering a competitive price, the Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department had recommended full autonomy to OMFED to fix the selling price of milk, official sources said.
