Valuables worth lakhs of rupees were reported to have been gutted in the incident. Clothing items, documents and other valuables were reduced to ashes, sources said.
The fire reportedly erupted from the first floor of the building after the shop was closed. Locals noticed smoke emanating from the shop and promptly informed the Fire and Emergency Service personnel who immediately rushed to the spot. Around five fire tenders were deployed to contain the blaze.
