Operation Samudra Setu: INS Jalashwa Brings Back 588 Indians From Maldives

Kochi: INS Jalashwa reached Kochi on Sunday morning, bringing back back 588 Indian citizens from Male in the Maldives.

Of the relieved Indians who disembarked at Samudrika Cruise Terminal of Cochin Port Trust were 70 women including 6 would-be mothers and 21 children.

Extensive arrangements were made by the Port authorities for coronavirus screening and immigration procedures. The civil administration then provided adequate transportation for the evacuated Indians to proceed to their respective destinations for further quarantine.

This was INS Jalashwa’s second voyage to the Maldives, as part of Operation Samudra Setu.

The Central government has been bringing back Indians stranded in different countries because of the Covid-19 shutdown via special flights and naval ships.
