New Delhi: More than 80 terrorists have been eliminated in a series of overnight strikes carried out by Indian armed forces on terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK), according to top security sources.
Operation Sindoor, as it’s being called, targeted nine facilities linked to banned terrorist outfits Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen, to avenge the Pahalgam massacre on April 22 that led to the gunning down of 26 innocent civilians.
Of the nine targets, the two biggest strikes were on JeM stronghold Bahawalpur and Muridke, where around 30 terrorists have been eliminated at each site which serve as launch pads, training camps and radicalisation centres.
Even as the Indian Army released a video on X with the message ‘Justice is served’, Pakistan claimed eight civilians, including a child, were killed and called the assault a “blatant act of war”.
Pakistan has been clearly rattled, despite expecting a strikeback from India, and is scrambling for ideas to respond.
Maryam Nawaz, chief minister of Punjab in Pakistan, has declared a state of emergency across the province after the unprecedented Indian strikes.
All doctors and medical staff in Punjab’s hospitals have had their leaves cancelled, , News.Az reported, citing Geo News. Officers and staff from civil defence and other departments have been called to duty.
