‘Operation Subha Jatra’ Kicks Off With Return Of Migrant Workers To Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Operation Subha Jatra launched by the Odisha government for the return of migrant workers from the neighbouring states began on Saturday.

Informing the media here, IT Secretary Manoj Mishra said that a total of 1150 migrant workers belonging to 23 districts are on their way back from Ernakulum, Kerala in a special train.

“The migrant workers were sent off by the Kerala government with dignity and convenience. Out of 1150 workers, 382 are from Kandhamal, 283 from Kendrapara and 130 from Ganjam,” Mishra said.

Stating that these workers have registered in the government portal prior to returning to their home state. As decided, the train on the way to Odisha will stop at Jagannathpur in Ganjam district and the Khurda Road at Jatni.

“The migrant workers belonging to Ganjam and other districts will alight at Jagannathpur railway station. Similarly, other workers of the remaining districts will alight at Khurda Road from where the district administration has arranged vehicles to take them to their respective panchayat where they will be kept in government quarantine centres,” he added.
