New Delhi: As the Opposition continued its protest, both houses had been adjourned minutes after proceedings resumed on Monday. Several MPs held a banner questioning home minister Amit Shah’s absence from the Parliament.

The Opposition MPs have sought answers from the home minister regarding the security crackdown on protestors during the Cockroach Janta Party’s July 20 protest.

MPs have also sought for a discussion on the Ayodhya Ram Temple donation theft case.

Congress MP Pawan Khera has called on home minister Amit Shah to answer the Opposition.

“The Home Minister should be asked what happened with students at Jantar Mantar and now with an MP. Such is the state of law and order. The whole country wants the PM to apologise to the students of the country, but here the PM is forgiving the students. Tomorrow, Nirav Modi will say that he forgives all the banks. What is this?” Khera told reporters, as quoted by HT.

Amendments related to SC, MSME, Banking on the cards

Meanwhile, the Union government is likely to press ahead with four bills in Parliament. The bill to increase the sanctioned strength of Supreme Court judges to 37 and amendments relating to the MSME sector are listed for Monday.

The government will also introduce a bill to modernise the law governing evidence contained in bankers’ books and align it with contemporary digital banking practices, according to reports.

Sources claimed the government is also expected to take up the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill.

Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman introduced the Indian Statistical Institute Bill, which aims to provide a statutory framework for the Indian Statistical Institute.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav has slammed the FIRs against opposition MPs Rahul Gandhi, Pappu Yadav, and Awadhesh Prasad over alleged insult to Sanatan Dharma after they staged a skit inside the Parliament complex regarding the donation theft case.

“This is just to deflect the issue. There is a complete sense of disillusionment in this government,” she told reporters.

The FIR was lodged in Varanasi with a group of seers alleging that it has hurt religious sentiments.
