Original Song From Odia Film ‘Phalguna Chaitra’ Accepted For Oscar Consideration; Check Here

Cuttack: The makers of Phalguna Chaitra have independently submitted an original sound track from the Odia film for Oscars 2024.

“The submission for original sound track ‘Smruti Bunijae Jibana’ composed by Jerry Silvester Vincent for Best Original Song category and Chaudhary Jayaprakash Das’ performance has been accepted for Academy Awards consideration,” Partha Sarathi Ray told Odisha Bytes.

Aishwarya Kumar has lent her voice to the song penned by JP Wordsmith.

After the crime thriller ‘Charitra’ and travel love story ‘Daalcheeni’, Sisir Kumar Sahu and Peenaki Singh Rajput delved into the family drama realm with ‘Phalguna Chaitra’, featuring Partha Sarathi Ray, Chandan Biswal and Choudhury Jayaprakash Das in lead roles. The director duo, known for visual storytelling, and good cinematography, shot the film in Koraput, Nabarangpur, and Jeypore districts during the rains.

While the story is by Dr Sulagna Mohanty, Pranab Prasanna Rath has penned the screenplay and dialogues for this musical tale portraying family ties in tough times while reminding one of the beauty and warmth of familial bonds. Popular Odia actor Babushaan Mohanty co-produced the movie, which was released on May 12 this year.

With a rating 9.1 ratings in IMDB, the film has also been screened in Canada, the Netherlands and the UK.

Earlier this year, SS Rajamouli’s RRR had created history as the film’s ‘Naatu Naatu’ soundtrack by MM Keeravani was awarded the Best Original Song Award at the 95th Academy Awards in Los Angeles, United States.

The 96th Academy Awards is set to take place on March 10, 2024, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
