Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Friday issued an interim stay order on the advertisement of the Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB) released in 2021 for recruitment to the posts of police sub-inspectors (SIs).
The High Court issued the order after hearing a petition filed against Odisha government’s notice on January 15 last year. The petitioner sought the court’s intervention on the notice which ruled out age relaxation for the applicants.
The petitioner had drawn the court’s attention to the fact that though the government had announced to conduct the test 2 years after issuing the advertisement, it had not made any relaxation in maximum age limits.
The OPRB had advertised seeking applications from suitable candidates to fill up 474 SI posts. But it could not conduct the test for the recruitment due to restrictions related to COVID pandemic for 2 years.
The High Court also issued a notice to the government asking why the recruitment notice should not be quashed. It has scheduled the next date of hearing the case on March 9.
