Ornaments Worth Rs 1 Crore Stolen From Bhubaneswar Jewellery Shop

Bhubaneswar: Miscreants allegedly stole gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 1 crore from a jewellery shop at Delta Square here late on Saturday night.

According to the owner of the shop Lakshmi Narayan Jewellers, Sandeep Sahoo, they stole one kilogram of gold and 10 kilograms of silver along with Rs 2 lakh in cash. The theft took place after the shop was closed at 10 pm.

Sahoo said four gates were installed at the store. But the miscreants cut iron grill, shutter, glass door and a ply gate to break into the shop.

“The miscreants stole ornaments like chains, rings and earrings by breaking open the showcases and from jewellery boxes. They placed the store’s flex hoarding in front of the shutter so that people could not see them from outside,” Sahoo was quoted as saying by The New Indian Express.

According to Khandagiri police, the miscreants used gas cutters to break into the store as per the initial probe.
