OSL Transports 400-Tonne Cargo From Odisha’s Pradip Port Through Riverine Navigation

Bhubaneswar: Orissa Stevedores Limited (OSL) has successfully transferred heavy lift cargo through riverine navigation from Paradip Port.

Tata Steel had imported four heavy lifts from China through Paradip Port in association with freight forwarder Deugro/Golden Coast. Since the packages could not be transported on road from the port to Kalinga Nagar in Jajpur district, the OSL, one of the state’s leading stevedoring firm, was awarded the job to transfer the cargo through riverine navigation.

After the heavy lift cargo of about 400 tonne was downloaded from mother vessel MV Yangez Venus, it was loaded onto Pontoon Sanvi. With help of tow, Sanvi was navigated to Luna jetty, about 45 km away from the port, by virtue of riverine navigation. Subsequently, the packages were discharged by roll-off method and transferred to its destination.

The OSL, which has been engaged in stevedoring for over 46 years, is now venturing into riverine navigations to give one stop solutions to all types of cargo, including the last mile delivery which had been a logistical challenge for many.
