New Delhi: The pandemic-induced lockdowns changed the whole definition of audiovisual entertainment in India. With cinema halls closed, people confined to their homes found succour in OTT platforms and were certainly not disappointed. It opened a whole new world for them and they realised that not all entertainment is Bollywood.
More than anything else, viewers also got to appreciate new talent. Most of the actors did very well but there are some who made a mark with their performances. Who are they? India Today compiled a list.
Pratik Gandhi
He played the lead role in Harshad Mehta in ‘Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story’ on SonyLIV. The actor was widely praised for his performance as the infamous stockbroker. Directed by Hansal Mehta, the show is based on the 1992 stock market scam and began streaming in October this year.
Tripti Dimri
She played the titular role in Anushka Sharma’s second production, ‘Bulbbul’ on Netflix and impressed fans as well as critics with her portrayal of a modest girl who later becomes a confident woman.
Jaideep Ahlawat
He impressed everyone as Hathiram Chaudhary in ‘Paatal Lok’ with several celebrities praising his performance.
Isha Talwar
She joined the ‘Mirzapur’ team this year as a widowed politician who marries one of the protagonists, Munna. Her calm demeanour won her a lot of fans.
Avinash Tiwary
He plays the role of Satya in ‘Bulbul’. He has also worked with Tripti Dimri in the film ‘Laila Majnu’ and will also be seen with Parineeti Chopra in the Hindi version of ‘The Girl on The Train’.
Nithya Menen
She won hearts in the role of Abhishek Bachchan’s wife, Abha Sabharwal in ‘Breathe: Into The Shadows’.
Shreya Dhanwantri
She plays the role of Padma Shri journalist and author Sucheta Dalal in ‘Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story’.
Tanya Maniktala
Tanya Maniktala was lauded for her performance in ‘A Suitable Boy’ on Netflix.
