Indore: Stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui has full faith in judiciary and is hopeful of getting justice.
Munawar was released on bail late on Saturday night after being locked up at Indore Central Jail for 35 days. The charge against him was allegedly hurting religious sentiments and also insulting Union Home minister Amit Shah.
“I don’t want to comment (on the case against him) now. But I have full faith in the judiciary and am hopeful of getting justice,” Munawar said in a brief video message after stepping out of jail.
The 32-year-old Mumbai-based Faruqui and four others were arrested on January 2 based on a complaint lodged by a BJP MLA’s son alleging that objectionable remarks on Hindu deities and Shah were passed during a comedy show at a cafe in Indore on New Year’s Day.
