Malkangiri: Doctors of District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), here, have removed a stone weighing more than 1 kg from urinary bladder of a man through surgery.
The doctors detected the stone in the urinary bladder of the patient, Dasharath Khila from Chitrakonda in the district, after he consulted them recently. Khila was feeling acute pain in his underbelly for the last few days and had gone to the hospital for consultation.
The doctors advised him that they have to operate on him to remove the stone which was blocking flow of urine and causing the pain. As he agreed to it, Dr Sapan Kumar Dinda along with anesthesia specialist Nihar Ranjan Tripathy performed the surgery.
Since it was a huge stone, the process was complicated and took a long time. However, Dr Dinda successfully removed the stone weighing 1200 gm. It was first such surgery in the hospital, sources said.
“It was a pretty challenging procedure. But, we were successful in removing the stone from the patient’s urinary bladder,” said Dr Dinda. The condition of the patient was stated to be stable.
