Over 100 Kg of Ganja On Way To West Bengal Seized, 3 Arrested In Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: Police have seized more than a quintal of ganja while being smuggled to West Bengal and arrested three persons in this connection in Bhubaneswar.
According to police sources, IIC of Bharatpur police station in the city received reliable information about smuggling of the ganja in a car. On his direction, a team was deployed on the road behind a petrol pump in Kalinganagar.
The police team intercepted the car at the spot and on checking it found the ganja. The contraband was being taken in six polythene sacks. The ganja weighed around 101 kg.
The police seized the ganja, the car and Rs 35,250 from the possession the three persons and arrested them. The arrested persons were identified as Chandan Swaraj Naik and Ajaya Kumar Naik of Angul and Rakesh Mondal of West Bengal.
Following their arrest, the three persons confessed their crime. They said they had procured the ganja from Kandhamal and taking those to sell in West Bengal.
The police have registered a case under NDPS Act, 1985 and forwarded the arrested persons to the court.
