Over 100,000 COVID-19 Cases Reported Each Day Globally In Last Two Weeks, Says WHO Chief
World Health Organisation (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Wednesday confirmed that over 100,000 coronavirus cases were reported across the globe every day for the last two weeks.
A majority of the cases were from America and South Asia and countries that have put a check on transmissions. The WHO chief also didn’t rule out the possibility of resurgence.
Ghebreyesus took note of multiple cases in China after having not reported a single case in the last 50 days. He said the origin of those new cases is under probe.
Executive Director WHO’s Health Emergencies Programmes, Dr. Michael Ryan stated that the UN health agency is likely to strengthen its team in China in the near future as the probe progresses.
The Chinese city of Wuhan was the first place where coronavirus outbreak was reported.
