Over 2Kg Brown Sugar Seized Under White Spider Operation In Odisha Capital
Bhubaneswar: More than 2 kgs of brown sugar has been seized during the special anti-drug enforcement drive as part of the ‘operation white spider’ in Bhubaneswar.
According to sources, more than 2.245 kg of brown sugar or heroin, Rs 7,30,620 cash, 310 gm gold, 450 gm silver, 61 mobile phones, 24 two/four wheelers, a 9 mm pistol, a laptop, and five ammunition have been seized since January, 2022.
In the latest seizure, four persons were arrested with six grams of brown sugar at Chandrasekharpur in Bhubaneswar on Sunday. The arrested peddlers have been identified as Swastik Patra of Balasore, Jitendra Kumar Naik, Jyotiranjan Palei and Sisir Nayak of Bhubaneswar.
A special team of Chandrasekharpur police conducted a raid on the hot spot between Utkal Hospital and Kalinga Hospital road after receiving a tip-off and caught the peddlers red-handed.
During the interrogation, the accused persons admitted that they had illegally kept the brown sugar for sale and said that they have been consuming it regularly. They also admitted that they had been selling brown sugar regularly to various customers within Bhubaneswar city limits.
Besides, the cops also seized some foil papers and a scooty from their possession.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and further investigation is underway.
A WhatsApp number-7077798111 has been issued by the Bhubaneswar City Police for the public to provide information about the theft of mobiles, vehicles, gold/silver jewelry, and extortion or drug dealing.
