Puri: More than 30 crude bombs were hurled during a group clash over Holi celebration in a village of the district which had witnessed similar incident before panchayat elections last month.
According to sources, while the villagers of Danduasipada under Brahmagiri police limits were celebrating Holi during the day, there was an argument between two groups. Though it led to heated exchange of words, there was no further escalation.
In the evening, the two groups of villagers were again engaged in a verbal duel leading to a violent clash. Both groups hurled crude bombs at each other. More than 30 bombs were allegedly hurled during the clash that lasted for more than an hour, the sources said.
A villager, who was injured in the bomb explosion, was rushed to the local hospital.
On being informed, police have rushed to the village and restored normalcy. They are keeping a watch on the villagers to prevent any untoward incident.
It may be noted that around 20 bombs were hurled between rival political groups in Danduasipada before the panchayat elections last month. While 5 villagers were injured in the incident, police had arrested 5 persons.
