Baripada: More than 30 students of a women’s college have alleged sexual harassment against a professor in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.
According to sources, the professor has been sexually harassing the students of Baripada Women’s College by threatening them on different grounds. He used to threaten them of giving low marks in college examinations, marking low attendance and other pretexts.
Though several students had been victim of his harassment, they dared not complaint against him in fear of facing reprisals. But a video showing the professor physically exploiting a student during evaluation of her examination papers went viral on social media recently.
Agitated by the video, 34 women students filed a joint complaint against the professor with the principal of the college.
Speaking to the media about the complaint, the principal told the media that it has been forwarded to the anti-sexual harassment cell of the college. The college authorities would take necessary action on the basis of the report submitted by the cell, she added.
