Over 3,000 People To Be Shifted To Temporary Shelter For Missile Test In Odisha’s Chandipur
Balasore: More than 3,000 people of six villages around the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur in Odisha’s Balasore district will be shifted to temporary shelter for the missile test on Thursday.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Niranjan Behera, assistant collector of Balasore, said the district administration and ITR authorities have made necessary arrangements for shifting of the people for the missile test. Around 3,100 people within a radius of 2.5 km of the test range will be taken to a safe and temporary shelter, he added.
According to sources, 1,093 people from Jayadebaksaba Pahi and Sajahajnagar Pahi, 895 from Bhimpur Pahi and Tundara Pahi and 1,112 from Khadupahi and Kusumuli will be shifted. The process will start at 6 am.
They will stay in the temporary shelter till the completion of the missile test. Necessary provisions including food and water have been made at the shelter.
More than 100 government officials have been engaged for smooth shifting of the people. Around 15 platoons of police forces have been deployed to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incident.
