US-based video conferencing app Zoom has recently become very popular due to rise in work-from-home culture amid the coronavirus lockdown. The popularity has resulted in something worse – over 500 thousand Zoom accounts have been hacked.

The account credentials are being sold for less than a penny or even free on the dark web, according to a recent report by Bleeping Computer.

The Google recently banned this popular virtual meeting app for all its employees because it does not meet ‘security standards’.

Many hacked accounts with email ids and passwords are popping on hacker forums.

Cyble, a cybersecurity intelligence firm, has reportedly ‘purchased’ a large number of such accounts to warn people of the risks. The firm bought 5,30,000 zoom credentials at an average of about Rs 0.15 per account. The accounts include the victims’ email address, password, personal meeting URL, and their HostKeys as well.
