Over 700 Fined For Flouting COVID-19 Guidelines In Cuttack City In 3 Days

Cuttack: Notwithstanding repeated appeals of the Central and state governments and strict vigilance by police, as many as 717 people were slapped fine for violating COVID-19 guidelines in the city in the last 3 days.

In a tweet on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Cuttack, Prateek Singh said penalty was imposed on 73 persons for not wearing masks and 144 for not maintaining social distancing in the last 24 hours.

According to police sources, 62 people were fined for not wearing masks and 183 for violating physical distancing norms on January 20. Similarly, the police had fined 67 mask-less people and 188 for violating social distancing norm on January 19.

Earlier, the Commissionerate Police had warned the people of the twin cities that violation of the COVID-19 guidelines in public places will attract heavy penalty.
