New Delhi: The Centre has released Rs 14.25 crore to Odisha’s Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected districts which are covered under Security Related Expenditure (SRE) scheme in 2020-21 financial year.
Stating this in a written reply to question in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy said at present, 54 districts of Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh are covered under SRE scheme since April 1, 2018. Prior to April-2018, 64 districts of these states were covered under the scheme, he added.
In Odisha, 15 districts are covered under the SRE. Those districts are Angul, Bargarh, Balangir, Boudh, Deogarh, Kalahandi, Kandhmal, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nayagarh, Nuapada, Rayagada, Sambalpur and Sundargarh.
Of these districts, Boudh, Sambalpur, Nayagarh, Angul, Deogarh, Nabarangpur and Sundargarh have reported no LWE violence incidents in 2020, Reddy said.
Giving the last three years’ sanctioned funds, the minister said while Rs 10 crore was released in 2017-18, Rs 66.67 was granted in 2018-19 and Rs 66.66 crore in 2019-20.
