Pak Bans Jeans & Tights For Female Teachers

New Delhi: The Pakistani government has barred female teachers from wearing jeans and tights. Their male counterparts are also barred from wearing jeans and t-shirts, according to a media report.

The diktat was issued to principals in a letter by the country’s Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), according to a report in Pakistani daily Dawn.

The letter directed the principals to ensure the implementation of proper hygiene and appropriate “dress code”’ among staffers in their respective educational institutions.

For male teachers, wearing shalwar qameez with a waistcoat, pant and shirt with tie (preferably jacket/coat) is deemed mandatory. T-shirts of any kind are also prohibited.

The FDR also stated that all teachers must wear teaching gowns inside classes and lab coats while in laboratories.

In addition, it directed schools and colleges to ensure uniforms for gatekeepers and support staff as well.

The dress code must be adhered to by the educators while they’re on an institution’s premises and during official gatherings, ceremonies and meetings, the letter added.
