Islamabad: A Pakistani student managed to flee war-hit Ukraine with Indian assistance.
According to Misha Arshad, who was studying at the National Aerospace University in Kharkiv, officials of Indian embassy allowed her to board its bus and reach Ternopil city.
She was the only Pakistani in a bus full of Indian students, Misha said.
Hitting out at the Pakistani embassy in Ukraine, Misha complained that its officials did nothing to help their evacuation.
“We are the future of Pakistan and this is how they treated us in this difficult time,” she was quoted as saying by The Dawn.
The university administration shifted students living in apartments to hostel basements when Russia launched a military invasion against Ukraine on February 24, Misha said.
“I stayed with some 120 students from Nigeria, China, India and even some local Ukrainians. It wasn’t safe for us to leave our shelter or even try and flee as airstrikes continued all day and night,” Misha told The Dawn.
Some Pakistani and Turkish students earlier used the Indian flag to cross into neighbouring countries like Poland and Romania.
