Panchayat Executive Officer Arrested For Taking Bribe In Odisha’s Angul

Cuttack: Vigilance officials on Tuesday arrested a Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) for demanding and accepting bribe in Angul district.

Jayanta Biswal of Nimitri village under Kishorenagar police station had complained to the Vigilance officials that Nirvaya Pradhan, the PEO Sanjomura panchayat under the same block had demanded Rs 10,000 for processing and releasing Rs 1,20,000 in his favour under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

The officers of Vigilance, Cuttack Division laid a trap and caught Pradhan taking the money red-handed in his office room from the complainant. The bribe money was recovered and seized in presence of witnesses. Pradhan was arrested.
